Free & Reduced Meal Update

Will all meals be free for the 2023-24 school year?

The New Lebanon Central School District is pleased to announce that all students will be receiving free meals for the 2023-2024 school year through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), a program established under The Healthy, Hungry Free Kids Act of 2010. CEP offers a non-pricing meal service option to schools and school districts who are eligible.

Every New Lebanon student will be able to receive a nutritious breakfast and lunch at school without any cost to your household, regardless of your income. Students benefiting from the free breakfast/lunch program through CEP will not require additional funds to be added to MySchoolBucks. However, individual student accounts will still be maintained, allowing parents/guardians to prepay for additional breakfast/lunch purchases, such as à la carte items including milk, ice cream, extra snacks, a second meal, and more.

We kindly request that families complete a Household Income Eligibility Form. While school meals are free, these forms assist the district in determining eligibility for additional state and federal program benefits, grants, and funding that your child(ren) may be eligible for. Please complete one form per household and return to your school.

If you have any questions or require assistance, please contact Kitchen Manager Pat Metzler at pmetzler@newlebanoncsd.org or call 518-794-7600, extension 2, option 7.

Possible Menu Changes

Due to supply chain issues, there may be shortages and delays throughout the year on certain food items and supplies.  This could mean changes to the menu. Please be assured that the cafeteria staff is committed to doing everything possible to get our students the most balanced meals possible.

While things are always changing at a moment’s notice we will do our best to keep you informed and updated.

Any questions or concerns feel free to contact Pat Metzler, pmetzler@newlebanoncsd.org, 518-794-7600, opt. 2, opt. 7

Why are school meals applications so important? Because they are more than just a meal application! By submitting an application the district could receive extra benefits on top of free or discounted meals that include academic programming, athletics, discounted college application fees, classroom resources, and more! The application process brings tax revenue back into the district and directly into the school meals program to provide high quality food for breakfast and lunch. Your application will also help the district receive school meal funding to improve the school meals programs, education, and technology funding. Plus, all of your information remains confidential. Fill out an application here.
