Free & Reduced Meal Update
Will all meals be free for the 2022-23 school year?
As of June 30, 2022, free meal waivers through the USDA for the National School Lunch Program that were in place since the beginning of the pandemic have expired. Families of students who are eligible to receive free or reduced meals will need to fill out an application. Eligibility is based on family income – see link for eligibility status here.
Applications will be sent home at the beginning of the school year or can be found here. Applications should be sent to your child’s school main office as soon as possible.
If you qualify for SNAP, MEDICAID, TANF, or other forms of assistance you already qualify for school meals.
Children experiencing homelessness, children in foster care, runways, or children of a migrant worker all qualify for free school meals through an application.
Apply for Free and Reduced Price Meals
Families who may qualify for the Free and Reduced Price Meal Program are encouraged to submit applications for the 2022-23 school year. This will help ensure qualifying families continue to receive meals at no charge when the free summer meals program extension expires. Please contact Pat Metzler at pmetzler@newlebanoncsd.org or 518-794-7600 Opt. 2 with any questions.
The federal Free and Reduced Price School Meals program has provided low-cost or free lunches to students since 1946. It is a completely confidential program.

Possible Menu Changes
Due to supply chain issues, there may be shortages and delays throughout the year on certain food items and supplies. This could mean changes to the menu. Please be assured that the cafeteria staff is committed to doing everything possible to get our students the most balanced meals possible.
While things are always changing at a moment’s notice we will do our best to keep you informed and updated.

MySchoolBucks Online Meal Payment System
Parents can put money into their student’s cafeteria accounts through MySchoolBucks.com. More information about how the program and how to sign up is available here.

Why are school meals applications so important? Because they are more than just a meal application! By submitting an application the district could receive extra benefits on top of free or discounted meals that include academic programming, athletics, discounted college application fees, classroom resources, and more! The application process brings tax revenue back into the district and directly into the school meals program to provide high quality food for breakfast and lunch. Your application will also help the district receive school meal funding to improve the school meals programs, education, and technology funding. Plus, all of your information remains confidential. Apply here.
