Superintendent Shares Update on Reopening

I am sure that the New Lebanon CSD community is anxious for an update on reopening our schools in September. While we await specific guidance from the NY State Education Department, we have been planning sanitation protocols, contagion mitigation strategies and the schedule adjustments that these efforts require.  We have also been acquiring additional resources such as personal protective equipment, cleaning supplies, thermometers and other health and safety needs.

To date, we have not received final guidance on reopening. Governor Cuomo indicated today that this guidance will be released on July 13. Individual school district reopening plans will be due to the State by July 31 and the Governor will make a decision on reopening during the week of August 1.

As you can imagine, we have a lot of work before finalizing a reopening plan that supports the safety of our students and staff. We ask for your patience as we work through this process. Our priority will continue to be the health and safety of all students and staff – and supporting our students and families during this time of crisis.
