Message from Superintendent Kourt Regarding the Solar Eclipse Early Dismissal

March 27, 2024

Dear Families,

Just a reminder that we are dismissing two hours early on Monday, April 8th (The first day back from April break). This is of course due to the solar eclipse that will be going through our region from around 2:10 pm to 3:40 pm on Monday, April 8th. So that our children can enjoy the eclipse safely and not from a bus, our students at the Jr./Sr. High School will be dismissed at 12:15 pm and our students at WBH will be dismissed at 1:15 pm. Please be sure to let your child’s office know if your child has special pick up or bus arrangements.

Each New Lebanon student will receive a pair of solar lenses to take home with them on April 8th. These glasses should only be used during the eclipse because otherwise they are very difficult to see through. Your child will learn about the eclipse at school and will be encouraged to view it safely using goggles from home.

See the links below for more information regarding this very special event that is not expected to happen again until the year 2079.
