Spanish & Home & Career Classes Collaborate on Project

Photo of student cookingRecently, 8th graders worked on a cross curricular project in their Spanish and Home & Career classes. The students researched Spanish speaking countries, took a look at their typical foods, evaluated the differences between the authentic recipe and the “Americanized” versions we’re used to eating, and then chose a recipe to make. They prepared their food once to try it out, got feedback on kitchen skills and preparation efficiency from their classmates, came up with a game plan to make it again and then served their foods to the 8th graders in the other class. Their research was presented on poster boards that were on display in the classroom on the day their recipe was served. See more photos here.
