Important Details for 2021 Graduation, Friday, June 25, 6 p.m.

New Lebanon Central School District

Dear Graduates and Families,

The countdown is on!  It looks as though the weather is going to be very cooperative for an outdoor event on Friday evening as planned. The graduation date will be Friday, June 25th at 6:00pm at WBH Elementary School. Please plan on arriving at 5:30 p.m. to allow for parking to be arranged. The commencement will begin promptly at 6:00 pm. In anticipation of the big day, we will be holding a brief rehearsal for our seniors so that they can know what to expect. Attendance is required for all graduates.

Graduation Rehearsal:

Thursday, June 24th, 12:30 p.m. at Walter B. Howard Elementary. Please park in the main lot and join us on the center island to go over plans.

For graduation, we encourage students to dress up their cars in the manner that they would their graduation cap with black and orange combined with whatever personal flair they wish to celebrate. Be sure to decorate your cap as well!  At the conclusion of the ceremony, the graduate recessional will consist of a parade led by the Lebanon Valley Protective Association and neighboring Fire District vehicles that will lead the graduates in their cars from Walter B. Howard Elementary School to the Jr./Sr. High School, symbolic of their educational journey in our district. Community members will be invited to park their cars along Route 20/22 to cheer on our graduates. At the high school, the student “parade” will be met with teachers from both buildings with signs celebrating their successes.

In preparation for the parade, we ask that you please cooperate with the parking attendants and staff directing traffic. Wait to be directed prior to maneuvering vehicles out of the traffic circle. Cars will be routed toward the bus garage for the purpose of lining them up for the post-graduation parade en route to the high school. Once at the high school, cars will be directed through the first entrance of the bus curve and out onto route 22 heading in the direction of Shatford Park. All vehicles will need to make a left out of the high school and reorient themselves away from the parade traffic.

Guidance has changed since our last correspondence. The only remaining COVID mandate is that masks are still required for unvaccinated individuals, pursuant to federal CDC guidelines.  We will be using the honor system with regard to this measure. We are looking forward to a great celebration of our graduates. Please do not hesitate to contact the Main Office at (518) 794-7600 [opt. 2, opt. 1] if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Matthew R. Klafehn,
New Lebanon Jr./Sr. High School, Principal
