Grants Helps Bring Local Produce to School

New Lebanon CSD is excited to announce school breakfasts and lunches will have produce from local farms next year thanks to a Farm to School Grant.

The district recently learned it has received the USDA grant that will be used to purchase food processing equipment and materials. The district will then purchase produce from local farms next year and serve them fresh through the district’s Food Services program.

“A large piece of our commitment to the grant is to educate our students about Farm to School,” explained Andrew Kourt. “We will create a K-12 agricultural curriculum that develops and promotes related activities and experiences for our students and community.”

We will keep our community updated about the program as it progresses.
