Students learn about fire safety

On October 20, firefighters from the Lebanon Valley Protective Association visited Walter B. Howard Elementary to talk to students about fire safety.

Firefighters focused on the importance of smoke detectors.

Another goal of this visit was to make the children feel comfortable and safe around the firefighters who, in their full gear, can be frightening to a child with no previous interaction.

The second picture is of Mr. Kourt in fire fighter gear, showing children that even though a firefighter’s gear can look a little scary, a safe person is behind the mask.

Students also had the opportunity to look at fire fighter gear and equipment in the WBH parking lot.
