Junior High Students Celebrate Red Ribbon Week

students doing ativities during gymMembers of our Jr High School celebrated Red Ribbon Week (10/28-11/1)! The purpose of this program is to bring awareness to the dangers of drugs, alcohol and vaping. To help carry out this message, members of the group Outspoken! (lead by Mrs. White and Mrs. Evans) facilitated activities in PE class that helped simulate being under the influence. Activities included threading a nut onto a bolt while wearing goggles covered in Vaseline, as well as winter gloves. Jr High students also took turns reading statements that may be said while at a party, but with marshmallows in their mouths. The other students in the group were asked to interpret what they were saying. After the activities were finished, students in Outspoken! had a debriefing session with the Jr High students.

Students in Outspoken! that assisted with activities include Liam Buckenroth, Zoey Cahill, Jack Criscione, Olivia Criscione, Winter Exley, Alexandra Sotek, Sasha Truax and Lindsay Tompkins.
