Winter Sports Update: Swimming Will Begin On Jan. 4th, All Other Sports Postponed

Swimming will begin on Monday January 4, 2021. All other winter sports are postponed at this time.

The winter sports season schedule has been adjusted by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association. Only “low-risk” or “moderate-risk” sports, as determined by the New York State Department of Health – which includes swimming at New Lebanon – are permitted to start.

“High-risk” winter sports including Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball, Boys’ Volleyball and Wrestling have not been approved by the state. Further guidance is expected later this month from the NYS Department of Health and NYSPHSAA regarding a timeline and guidelines for “high-risk” sports this winter.

Students in grades 7-12 will be able to sign up for swimming in their Physical Education classes via  using the Google Form.

All athletes must provide the school health office with documentation of an up to date physical. Any 7th or 8th grade student requesting to try out for an upper level sport must go through the Athletic Placement Process (APP) in order to be eligible for high school sports. Please send an email to Stephanie Luce (sluce@newlebanoncsd.org) to be added to the APP list. Please contact the Athletic Office, 518-794-7600 Option 2 for HS or Option 4 for Athletic Director, if you have any questions.
