Superintendent Letter regarding athletics testing

This message was sent to the families of student-athletes on Thursday, August 19.

Dear Families,

As we approach the start of the fall sports season, I wanted to share some information with you regarding our plan to mitigate COVID-19 among our student athletes.

In order to keep our New Lebanon student athletes safe, and in accordance with the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, we will be conducting COVID-19 testing for all student athletes at least once per week. This testing is mandatory for students to be eligible to participate in any sport regardless of vaccination status. Students in high risk sports (Girls Volleyball) will be tested twice per week, and students in low risk sports (all other fall sports) will be tested once per week. Students will not be tested without parental consent – you can find the consent form on our website here.

We will offer testing on-site for student athletes at the District Office (on the side of the Jr/Sr High School) on Monday, August 23 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, August 24 from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. You may have your child tested at an off-site location, but you must provide proof of a negative test to the district prior to your child being able to participate. If you intend to have your child tested at school, please ensure your child brings the signed consent form with them when they are tested.

Please contact either myself (akourt@newlebanoncsd.org) or Athletic Coordinator Christopher Pallozzi (cpallozzi@newlebanoncsd.org) with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Andrew Kourt
Superintendent
