WBH Principal Update – December

Dear Families,

I want to take this time to wish you and your family a very happy holiday season. I hope you are able to spend time with your loved ones over this break. Thank you for your commitment and dedication to our school and our district. Our hard working students, supportive parents, and dedicated teachers/staff is what makes our school and district a wonderful place. Please read below for an update on recent happenings at WBH:

December has been a busy month at WBH. We were fortunate to have several special guests visit our school this holiday season. Newscaster John Gray visited our school and shared his book “Keller’s Heart.” He certainly taught our students the importance of treating everyone with respect and accepting all of our differences. Last week Singer and songwriter, John Farrell, shared some of his holiday favorites to help get us in the holiday spirit. In December we also held our annual spelling Bee at WBH. A big congratulations goes out to 5th grader, Xavier San Andres. He will be representing our school district at the regional spelling Bee at Proctor’s Theater in February. Finally, I also want to congratulate our 4th, 5th, and 6th grade choirs and 5th and 6th grade bands on their amazing winter concert. It is remarkable to see how much our students have grown as musicians under the direction of our wonderful music teacher, Ms. Miller.

The New Lebanon Capital project is currently underway. You will notice that our WBH foyer bathrooms are currently under construction. Our updated bathrooms should be complete within a couple months. Our gymnasium renovation will begin in mid April and our office renovation will begin this summer. The entire district project is anticipated to be complete by September 2020. Please see the web-site for updates on this project.

Finally, I want to thank those of you who wished me well on my future position within our district. Ms. Whitcomb, our school superintendent, will be retiring towards the end of September. I am absolutely humbled to be your next superintendent come October 2020. I look forward to my continued work and dedication within our New Lebanon community.

Thank you for your continued support and happy holidays.

Fondly,

Andrew Kourt
WBH Principal
