Many in our community have been asking about our plans for the end of the year. At this time we can share the following update regarding the remainder of the school year.
Our last day of classes will be Thursday, June 18. We determined this date by subtracting the six spring break days we remained in session as outlined in Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order. As of today (May 6), there has been no additional directive from the governor or State Education Department, so the four-day weekend for Memorial Day will remain as it is on the calendar. There will be no classes on Friday, May 22 or Monday, May 25.
Building principals will be reaching out to families soon about retrieving student items remaining in the buildings. We will also be setting up protocols for returning school-owned devices and musical instruments once our virtual instruction has ended for the year.
We are planning for a June 20 graduation celebration for the Class of 2020. We will use both campuses and involve as many teachers as possible. Be on the lookout for more information on this as plans are finalized.
Should any additional guidance be released by the Governor’s Office or State Education Department, we will share any updates with the community. We would also like to thank our community for their support, patience, and understanding as we worked to keep our students engaged through this time.
