This year, Mrs. Schaible (first grade) and Mrs. Smith (sixth grade) have been working alongside school psychologists, Mrs. Gebbie and Ms. Cupp, to pilot a social emotional learning curriculum called Caring School Community. As part of this program, our first and sixth grade students have an opportunity to buddy up. This is a wonderful chance for the sixth grade students to mentor and practice leadership skills. The first grade students love connecting with and building positive relationships with older students. They have met 3 times and completed activities relating to identifying similarities and differences, being helpful and caring, and cooperation. The time has been enjoyed by both adults and students, and they look forward to hopefully growing this type of program in the future.
