Congratulations Benjamin Chaput for receiving the DAR Good Citizen Award from Hendrick Hudson Chapter, NSDAR
Senior Benjamin Chaput was chosen for this award by the New Lebanon JRSR Scholarship Committee based on his demonstrated qualities in dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. DAR later chose him as their chapter’s winner among other high school applicants across Columbia County.
Ben was recently informed that he was also the winner of the Northeastern Division DAR Good Citizen Award. The Northeastern Division comprises 7 states: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont. There are a total of 8 division male winners and 8 female winners. The 8 division winners for each category are sent on for the final round to determine the 2022 male and female national winners. Benjamin should be very proud of winning at this level. No matter what happens in the final round, he is one of the top 8 male winners in the country which means he beat out thousands of other male students from across the country.
This is the first time in recent history that a student from New Lebanon JRSR has been honored with this prestigious award. Good luck to Ben in the national competition!
