Dear Pre-K and Kindergarten Families,
We are super excited to welcome our newest students to Walter B. Howard Elementary School for Orientation on Tuesday, September 7th. Kindergarten Orientation will take place from 9:00 to 10:00am and Pre-K Orientation will take place from 10:30 – 11:30. Our current plan is to hold these orientations outside near the K and Pre-K rooms. If weather becomes a challenge we may need to move the orientation to a virtual orientation. We will keep families up to date and try to provide as much notice as possible if we need to change the orientation to a virtual format.
Upon your arrival with your child please park in the main parking lot. Please walk with your child on the side-walk in the front of the school to the meeting area by the Pre-K and Kdg. rooms. You will see a tent set-up by the classrooms.
During this orientation we will go over items such as:
- Who are the Teachers and Support Staff
Academic Programs
COVID Guidelines
Arrival and Dismissal
Breakfast and Lunch
Ways to Communicate
Family Partnerships
Transportation
Opportunities for Your Questions
If we are able to meet live, families will have an opportunity to tour the classroom where your child will spend most of their day. In addition, we will have two buses stationed nearby so that students can sit in them and hear from our transportation department.
