Jr/Sr High Students Participate in Sage Leadership Summit

A team of eight New Lebanon Jr/Sr High School students participated in the 12th Annual Northeast U.S. Character Education Youth Leadership Summit on December 5 on the campus of Russell Sage College in Troy.

School Psychologist Tricia White and School Counselor Meghan Pepe accompanied the students to the event. This year’s theme, “Don’t Judge a Book by its Cover: Care to Find out What’s Inside!” focused on the character trait “CARING” as it applies to how individuals treat others, themselves, and the environment.

As part of this interactive summit, students developed an action plan to address issues in character education, school climate and to enhance academic excellence. Youth leaders from various schools in the region had the opportunity to learn specific leadership skills and develop an understanding of key positive character traits.

More than 200 junior and senior high school students from 17 local school districts participated in the conference sponsored by The Academy for Character Education at the Esteves School of Education at The Sage Colleges.

Nice job students for representing New Lebanon so well!
