Art Classes Celebrate Earth Day with Recycled Projects

In honor of Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22nd, several art classes at New Lebanon Jr./Sr. High School completed creative projects using recycled objects and natural materials.

Our 7th grade artists took on an especially exciting project, building an Earth Loom. This weaving structure will live outside on the school grounds and continue to grow throughout the rest of the school year as students add to it. Some classes ventured outside to explore the campus, picking up trash and gathering twigs and other natural materials to weave into the loom. The project doubles as both an art installation and a hands on lesson in environmental stewardship.

To wrap up their Earth Day celebration, students used markers to color Keith Haring inspired coloring sheets, paying tribute to the artist’s bold, joyful style while honoring the holiday.

A great reminder that art and environmental awareness can grow together.
