Technology Committee Minutes

Present: Dottie Rogers, Ben Long, Matt Klafehn, Becky Vaillancourt, Shannon Hosier, Janet Haley, April Phelps

 

The following topics were discussed:

 

1.      Minutes

Members approved the minutes from the May meeting.

 

2.      Parent Technology night

Took place on May 22, 2007. Presenters were Matt Klafehn, Dan Beaudry, Shannon Hosier, Dottie Rogers, Lenny Brown, Bridget LeBarron and Reality Check, and Deputy William Hallenbeck.  Topics included were: What is Media Literacy?, Internet Safety, Generation M, Violence in Video Games, Media High in Saturated Fat, The Presence of Tobacco in the Media, An Explanation of Movie and Television ratings, Cell Phones and Blackberries in your Child’s Lives, Becoming Critical Viewers.

Even thought the evening was poorly attended the presentations went on as scheduled. The information was incredible! We will try to organize another Technology Night next year but present the information in Jan. or Feb. vs. the end of the year.

 

3.  Adult Education

The classes were a great success. Two classes were offered this year:

Introduction to Computers and Basic Word. The committee will continue to support the Continuing Education program in relation to technology.

 

4.      Software requests

All requested databases have been ordered.

All software orders have been placed-teachers were instructed to E-mail Dottie Rogers when they received the software.

 

5.      Hardware requests

All purchase orders for hardware have been placed

 

6.  Ordering for the 2008-2009 school year

Staff was reminded that all software and hardware requests for the 2008-2009 school year are due Oct. 2, 2007 and that the forms are posted on the Intranet.

 

7.      Computer Managing Systems:

The Sanako demonstration was reschedule for the Sept.12 meeting. After that presentation the committee will decide whether or not to reschedule the SychronEyes presentation.

 

 

 

8.      Evaluations

The committee adapted a Staff evaluation form and will recommend distributing it to all faculty and staff to access our technology educational needs.

Due to the fact that the technology plan will need to be evaluated next summer each member of the committee was given a copy of the plan to review over the summer.
