Seventh grade students in Technology class have been studying Bio-Related Technology. Students built two hydroponic systems that use a gravity feed system and float to grow four types of lettuce.
Students were required to track the growth of their lettuce plant on their Plant Data Chart, monitor the hydroponics garden variables and record their observations on a weekly basis.
Seeds were germinated in late September. On October 26, students harvested four types of lettuce from the thirty-two plants they were growing. The lettuce was washed, mixed together, and sprinkled with some raspberry vinaigrette dressing before students enjoyed a taste sample in class. The lettuce was described as tender, fresh, and delicious.
