Steve Murray speaks with Jr/Sr High School students during rehearsal.

Murray has taught students at all levels, elementary through college. During his visit, he listened to the choir rehearse, provided feedback to improve the piece, and answered questions about his process for writing pieces.

Murray’s arrangements have been written for his students and for his students’ ensembles. Others have been written for the ensembles in which he performs, while others have been written on commission.

Murray has worked with and written for such figures as Tierny Sutton, Natalie Cole, Kenny Rogers, Sam Pilafian, and Maestro Giora Feidman.  He has performed with Buddy DeFranco, Gene Rush, Buddy Baker, Judy Collins, and the Albany Symphony.  Steve plays bass and sings bass. He has served as singer and assistant conductor of the Hartford Chamber Chorale, and has performed in regional choruses and currently is a member of Albany Pro Musica.
