HS Studio Art Students Visit Williams College Museum of Art

Ms. Brooks' Studio Art class
Ms. Brooks’ Studio Art class recently went on a trip to Williams College Museum of Art in Massachusetts.

Students viewed a large exhibit featuring the work of Anslem Kiefer, a German artist they recently studied in class.

“The exhibit was exciting for the students to view because they had the opportunity to view actual works of as opposed to images from the computer,” said Ms. Brooks.

They also viewed the exhibit Now Dig This! about Black Los Angeles 1960–1980, which chronicles the vital legacy of the African American arts community in Los Angeles, examining a pioneering group of black artists who helped shape the creative output of Southern California during a turbulent time in American history.

After viewing the exhibit students had to choose one work they found poignant and write an art criticism paper as well as include a sketch.
