WBH Principal’s Update: May 2018

Dear Families,

Spring is my favorite time of the year.  During the spring months life tends to be busy.  The next couple months here at WBH you will find a lot of excitement, fun filled events, field trips, and special activities. As a school community, it is always our goal to create an environment in which our students and families love being part of and a curriculum that motivates, challenges, and excites all our students.

Next week, May 7th to May 11th is teacher and staff appreciation week.  Here at WBH we will be celebrating all our faculty and staff and thanking them for all that they do for our school community.  We are very fortunate to have such a caring, passionate, and hardworking faculty here at WBH.  Please join me in thanking your child’s teachers for making a difference in the lives of our children.

Last week, we had author Matt McElligott visit our school and work with our children.  He shared his expertise about being an author and illustrator with our students.  Mr. McElligott was extremely impressed with our students’ knowledge as readers and writers.  He was an inspiration to our students and motivated our children to keep telling their stories.  Thank you to our wonderful PTA for funding this amazing author visit.

Next week is “We Are the World” week at WBH.  As a school, we always look for opportunities for our students to learn about other cultures.  Each grade level picked a continent and country to study and explore as a class.  Next week, our students will be showcasing what they learned at our kick off assembly on Monday, May 7th.  During this week students will be making art, eating cultural foods at lunch, and learning new cultural facts.  We also have guest musicians coming to WBH to teach our students songs and dances from the country studied in class.  At the end of the week, we will be having a cultural festival on Friday, May 11th.  Our students will share their songs with our families and we will share together a potluck dinner together.  We hope you can join us next Friday.

Thank you for your continued support.  We truly appreciate your dedication towards your child’s education.

Fondly,

Andrew Kourt
Principal
