New Teacher Spotlight

New Lebanon CSD is excited to welcome third grade teacher Molly Joyce to the district. Learn more about our new teacher in her own words.

Molly JoyceWhat is your education background? 

I graduated from Columbia High School in East Greenbush. I then received my bachelor’s degree in child development from SUNY Plattsburgh. After a couple of years working as a preschool teacher, I decided to go back to school and earned my master’s degree in early childhood education with additional certifications in childhood education and special education (B-6) from The College of Saint Rose.

What is your background like – previous jobs?

My previous jobs have always involved working with children. My first job was working at a before and after school program during the school year and a camp counselor during the summer. After I graduated with my bachelor’s degree, I taught preschool for three years in Schodack. While working towards my master’s degree, I substitute taught at various elementary schools in the area. I also student taught at Heatly Elementary in Green Island and Van Rensselaer Elementary.

Tell us about your family? 

My husband and I got married last October, so we are coming up on our first anniversary. We have one dog and one cat. I also have two younger sisters.

What are your interests outside of school?

I enjoy spending time with friends and family, baking, working on DIY projects, exercising, and watching movies.
