New Teacher Spotlight

Colleen MetzNew Lebanon CSD is excited to welcome High School Spanish teacher Colleen Meltz to the district. Learn more about our new teacher in her own words.

What is your education background? 

I grew up on Long Island and completed high school at Chatham.  I then attended Plattsburgh University for Spanish and Environmental Science and completed a semester in Costa Rica.  I completed my Masters in Spanish Education at SUNY Albany.  I also lived and studied in Mexico and Puerto Rico.

What is your background like – previous jobs?

I taught Elementary Spanish K-6 in Massachusetts and then taught Spanish for many years 9-12th at Averill Park High School. I taught one year at Taconic Hills 9-12th.

Tell us about your family? 

My husband and I have 6 1/2-year-old triplets, James, Julia and Nicholas and our 3 1/2-year-old is Michaela.

What are your interests outside of school?

I love to travel, read, play softball and to do Zumba.  I am licensed to teach it to all ages on land and in the pool!
