Meet Molly Schroeder, English Teacher

Molly SchroederNew Lebanon CSD is excited to welcome Molly Schroeder to the district. Learn more about our new English teacher in her own words.

What is your education background?

I received a bachelor’s degree in English and Humanitarian Affairs from Fordham University and a master’s in teaching secondary English from Bard College.

What is your background like – previous jobs?

This will be my first year as a full-time ELA teacher. My first teaching experience was as an education intern for a foster care agency in New York City. While working towards my master’s, I was a substitute teacher for Millbrook Central Schools and a server at an Italian restaurant.

Tell us about your family?

I come from a large family of chefs. My parents actually met at the Culinary Institute of America and ended up raising my three siblings and me right there in Dutchess County. They instilled in us the courage to try new things as well as a deep respect for well-made comfort food.

What are your interests outside of school?

When I’m not teaching English, I also teach dance. I have been practicing ballet, jazz, and modern dance for almost 15 years and currently teach a modern class at my hometown studio. You might also find me gardening, taking hikes, and swimming around the area. I also enjoy visiting New York City, especially to visit museums, attend plays, or spend a few hours in the Strand bookstore.
