Meet Claire Budzinski– Elementary Special Education Teacher

Photo of Claire smilingI am so excited to be starting the new school year at Walter B. Howard Elementary! This will be my first full time teaching position and I can’t wait to get started and join the WBH family.

What is your education background?

I received my undergraduate degree in Childhood Education at SUNY Oswego in 2013, and I recently received my graduate degree in Special Education and Literacy at SUNY Albany in May.

What is your background like – previous jobs?

In the first half of the 2015-2016 school year I worked as a Special Education intern at Blue Creek Elementary School in North Colonie. I remained in North Colonie as a substitute for the remainder of the school year and took on two long term replacements as a Special Education Teacher. I love the work that I am able to do as a Special Educator and it brings me so much joy to be able to meet the unique needs of each and every student I teach.

Tell us about your family?

I grew up in Carmel, NY and recently moved to Averill Park. I have family all across New York State and I love traveling to visit them whenever I get the chance. My family and friends have played such a huge roll in my success of becoming a kind and caring teacher. They have provided me with the love and support that I needed all along my journey to becoming an educator!

What are your interests outside of school?

When I’m not teaching I love to cook, play guitar, read, knit, and cheer for the Buffalo Bills! I also love to travel, be outside, and explore New York and New England with my boyfriend! I feel so welcomed at WBH Elementary and I can’t wait to see what this school year will have in store! Go Tigers!
