With the New Year, we make our personal resolutions. The District also has made its resolutions as we begin the budget process for the 2010-2011 school year. The School Board of Education resolves to accomplish three goals as they develop the budget. These three goals are continued from last year because they served the district and the community well. We want to maintain quality program, which may mean doing things differently however quality service to our children will remain our goal. We wish to plan for the future so that the district will be able to remain financially healthy and stable during these difficult economic times. And we again resolve to work hard to present a budget to the voters that is as close to a 0.00% tax levy as possible.
Every aspect of the budget is discussed by the Board at their regularly scheduled board meetings on the first and third Wednesday of each month. I encourage you to attend these meetings or to call my office if you have questions, concerns or suggestions.
Additionally, this January there will be a public hearing on the fate of the Union Free School building that sits on the high school campus. Options will be reviewed and community members are encouraged to attend the hearing to hear about the options and to express an opinion. The hearing will start at 7:00 pm January 6th and will be held in the high school library. The regular board meeting will immediately follow the hearing.
